Genk – Anderlecht
Genk hosts Anderlecht in a game from the 22th round of the Belgian First Division A.
Genk are currently 7th in the league, being on just two points behind the 6th Sint-Truiden. The team’s main goal is finishing in the Top 6 of the league and qualifying for the Championship round of the league.
Genk have 27 points won since the start of the season. The club’s record so far is 6 wins, 9 draws and 6 losses. In their last five games Genk won just once – against KV Oostende in the last round. Right now Genk’s form is not really that good, but at least they won their last game, which is a good start for something new.
Anderlecht on the other hand are 3rd in the First Division A. They have 40 points won so far and a record of 12 wins, 4 draws and 5 draws. But this season is not very good for the champions, because Anderlecht are currently on 13 points behind the leader Club Brugge. With such a deficit behind the leader, for Anderlecht it’s going to be very difficult to defend their crown this season.
In their last five matches Anderlecht won three times and lost twice – against Sporting Charleroi and Club Brugge. Especially the loss against Brugge was hard to swallow, because Anderlecht lost this match with the terrible 0-5.
This game is important for both teams. Genk are very close to finishing in the Top 6, but they need to continue winning, if they want to keep their chances. Meanwhile Anderlecht can’t allow themselves to increase this gap behind Club Brugge.
For this game Anderlecht will rely on their Nigerian striker Henry Onyekuru. He’s just 20-years old, but he have already scored 9 goals this season in the Belgian league.
